Live Performance · Embodied Antennas · Software-Defined Radio · Live Electronics · 2025–ongoing

LIVE SIGNALS, LIVE BODIES (IN CONVERSATION) is an ongoing performance collaboration between Maria Thrän and Afroditi Psarra, initiated in 2025. Through different embodied antenna systems—a swinging wire antenna and DIY handheld and wearable antennas—the artists receive and process electromagnetic and radio-frequency transmissions in real time using software-defined radios, live electronics, and SuperCollider.
The performance unfolds as a practice of co-tuning, interference, and spatial resonance. Rather than treating transmission as a stable channel, the work approaches it as relational and contingent: bodies, architecture, machines, and noise become active participants in the listening situation. Each iteration emerges through improvisation, uncertainty, and the shifting conditions of the electromagnetic field.
