Seven Days of Sitting With You, exhibited at Solaris, is a kinetic sound installation and seven-day vocal ritual performed by Rime Abd Al Majeed and explores how language and voice carry trauma and resistance. Recalling the post-reunification racist chant “Ausländer raus!”, the work responds to its TikTok afterlife and echoes in far-right digital culture, transforming the rhythm of exclusion into a durational ritual – one that reorients protest into embodied repetition.
Through daily recordings of voice and silence, the piece shifts from the synchrony of chanting to the attentiveness of ritual, asking how repetition might move from mobilisation toward listening. Seven Days of Sitting With You reclaims rhythm as a practice of care and refusal: not to amplify, but to hold, to remain, to attend. Can it create a dialogue within the very hegemonic structures it exposes—one where listening itself becomes a space of shared responsibility, where complicity, witnessing, and response can be re-negotiated?
